His Mercies Are Always New 

Every day is an opportunity to start over. How fortunate of us, we should be grateful.

His Mercies Are Always New

Each day is a new opportunity to close the door on the past and experience a brand-new start. Even the fact that God divided the days into twenty-four-hour segments is evidence that we need to start over on a regular basis. There is always a new day, a new month and a new year. But in order for us to make use of these new beginnings, we must make a decision to do so.

Are you battling guilt and condemnation? Do you feel bad about something you did years ago or something that happened yesterday? No matter how much time has gone by, the past is still the past. What is done is done, and only God can take care of it now. Your part is to admit your mistake, repent, receive God’s forgiveness, and go on.

In Lamentations, the prophet Jeremiah encourages us with the news that God’s mercy is new every morning. Every day He gives you a fresh start. I’m so glad that God sends a new batch of mercy daily – we can decide to have a new beginning every day!

Prayer Starter: God, I’m so glad that You’re mercies are new every morning! I can start fresh every day because of Your love, mercy, compassion and faithfulness to me!

The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. (‭Lamentations‬ ‭3‬:‭22-23‬ NLT)

Hardened Heart

And just so suddenly
You notice,
The sea of memories you are blinded to,
From the dust of simple things,
That trigger what was so delicately hidden to resurface.

And just so suddenly
A hope starts to flicker,
And fear threatens a war on the flood of emotions starting to burn,
A surge of what ifs play on.

And just so suddenly
You hit reality,
Reminded of the storm of chaos this little hope would eventually bring,
And fear finally wins.

That brief moment of eyes crinkling and lips smiling may not be worth it.

And just so suddenly,
You forget.
You stand.
You walk.

Setting Your Enemies Free

When dealing with past hurts, we all know that it’s right to forgive, even when it’s difficult. However, few of us rarely take the next step that God wants us to take.

A common misconception is that all we have to do is make the decision to forgive and our job is finished, but Jesus also said, “Invoke blessings upon and pray for the happiness of those who curse you, implore God’s blessing (favor) upon those who abuse you [who revile, reproach, disparage, and high-handedly misuse you]” (Luke 6:28 AMP). In addition, Romans 12:14 says that we are to bless the people who persecute us and treat us cruelly.

We are to actively bless our enemies. God calls us to extend mercy to people who do not deserve it. Why?

When you forgive, it opens a door for God to heal you, but honestly, it doesn’t do much for the person who offended you. But when you bless them, you ask God to bring truth to them so they can repent and experience the real freedom He provides. Forgiveness sets you free…blessing your enemies sets them free.

Prayer Starter: God, I thank You for helping me walk in forgiveness, but I don’t want to stop there. I ask You to bless those who have hurt me. In the same way that You have brought healing to my life, bring healing to them so they can experience Your goodness and walk in Your love.

Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. (‭Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭14‬ KJV)
