Staycation Manggapuri | 2019

October 4, 2019

It’s been a very busy year but we managed to squeeze in some time to get together despite the chaotic schedules.

Annual getaway with my forever dates!

Photo set | Manggapuri DSB

Whole place to ourselves! Manggapuri is located at Prk. Mangga, Brgy. Igmayaan, Don Salvador Benedicto, a little over an hour’s drive from Bacolod City. Arrived late afternoon, settled in and munched on a lot of junk while waiting for the sunset.

There are 7 cabanas I think, good for four or two people. Very spacious and comfortable. The rooms have floor-length windows with spectacular views of the mountain, the shy Mt. Kanlaon, and of course the flood of sunlight in the morning.

The place also boasts of this more than a thousand LED tulips, perfect for that romantic night stroll.

Beautiful place indeed, perfect for that long overdue staycation.

And while waiting for our sumptuous dinner, prepared by their in-house Chef, happy hour by the Jacuzzi.

S’mores by the bonfire and late night gossip with crickets as background music.

Woke up the next morning to sounds of chirping birds and buzzing bees. So in love with quiet nature, I seriously wanted to extend my leave.

Happy Hearts | 2015

February 20, 2015

So every February, me and my friends agree to go to some random place together, either just here or out of the country. Haven’t joined them since forever but was fortunate enough to tag along this year.

This year they decided on Baguio.

Took the last flight out to Manila.

We made it to Baguio in less than 6 hours.

Day 1

Caught up on some zzzs and had lunch at Cafe by the Ruins. They serve organic food and beverages. No junk here.

We then went to see the Philippine Military Academy. Just so we get to see it I guess especially for the first timers (haha).

Flowers were just sprouting all over. Lots of pretty.

We had hot chocolate in the afternoon at Choco-Late de Batirol at Camp John Hay. Temperature went as low as 17C. Must try the traditional blend Chocolate de batirol, bibingka and turon de langka.

Day 2

Good morning! It’s Valentine’s day! ❤️

IMG_6226

Started the day lining up at Good Shepherd. Must try their ube jam, strawberry jelly and chocolate crinkles.

Had our lunch at Pizza Volante and went to the market after to buy pashmina shawls and blankets.

We also went strolling at Burnham park and munched on a lot of street food. It’s Panagbenga festival the whole month of February so the park was full of floral displays.

We also had our picture taken with Doglas, the largest St. Bernard in Baguio (so they claim).

Went to the spa and had our Valentine’s dinner after at Mario’s. Food is really good. Going to the spa was interesting too (haha).

They also had this treat for the ladies.

And to sum it all up, s’mores by the fireplace.

My Valentine’s dates 😘

Day 3

Pack up to go back to Manila.

Strawberries sell at Php150.00 per box!

Time to get lucky!

Day 4

Went shopping and had dinner with my loves at Clawdaddy before flying home to Bacolod the next day.

IMG_6391

I may not be lucky in the romance department but I am very much fortunate with family and friends. I did not receive flowers or chocolates or whatever on Valentine’s day and it’s okay. This is enough, they are enough.

Until the next February adventure!

Additional bonus: Talked with my kids (via Viber) and they showed me their grades. I was one happy Momma. This has been the best Valentine’s treat I’ve had in years. Thank you God!

Weekend Getaway

September 23, 2014

Since a friend of mine is going back to the US on Thursday, we planned to have a farewell get-together out of town during the weekend. Initially, we planned on going to Dumaguete or Sipalay but due to our busy schedules, we decided to go somewhere near.

We ended up at La Vista Highlands, a mountain resort in San Carlos City. It’s more or less an hour’s drive outside Bacolod City.

The owner is an architect from Bago City, he is currently based in Cebu. We made reservations with him and he was very accommodating.

We took the route going Murcia since the distance is shorter. Road going there is well paved and traced with the scenic view of pine.

We hit jackpot when we arrived because it was just us for the night; we had the whole place to ourselves!

The Asian-tropical themed resort has very captivating landscape and architecture. It is surrounded by cabanas and huts that overlook the 24-hectare area.

Their rooms are varied to suit clientele capacity. Ours was situated at the Garden Villas, good for eight persons at P9,600/night inclusive of room amenities, swimming and breakfast. It has awesome interior, the beds were really cozy and the pillows were super fluffy. The terrace has a dining/lounge area and a hammock with a great view of the surrounding mountains.

Other resort amenities include a full-menu restaurant, a minibar with activities such as billiards, table tennis, darts and foosball and a lounge area.

The place also features two swimming pools. The big pool is 6 feet deep and the small pool is 3 feet deep; it’s also used as a heated jacuzzi. (Underwater shots were taken with a Sony Xperia Z2)

On our way home, we stopped over at Pandanon Valley Resort to go see some monkeys. The place is fairly known for wild monkeys roaming loose.

They also boast of their natural spring water. There are cottages alongside the spring and they also have a restaurant and a swimming pool. Costs of the cottages and food are fairly cheap.

That’s us waiting to see some monkeys. We got to see a few but at a far distance. According to the staff, the monkeys usually come down from the mountains to the resort and the guests could see them up close and feed them.
