Back to work

Despite the pouring rain and the fog — government duties, do not delay.

Went to see one of our assisted producers in the Municipality of Calatrava for a Davao client.

Thelma Canillo — she makes native bags from Pandan leaves and to date, I’m proud to say that she has been supplying for Kultura (SM) and exporting to Japan, Hawaii and Germany.

Anyways, on the way home, there’s this new restaurant in Don Salvador Benedicto that you’d pass just on the side of the road. And I was like, wow! Finally a decent resto in DSB! So I went to check it out.

The place looked good, cozy. Interior was nice. And I’m very proud to say that all the furniture here were made also by one of our assisted producers, Gerry Gerandoy, also from the Municipality of Calatrava. He makes furniture from hardwood and he’s grown over time. Lunch with a view. The food could be better and improved.

Happy Hearts | 2015

So every February, me and my friends agree to go to some random place together, either just here or out of the country. Haven’t joined them since forever but was fortunate enough to tag along this year.

This year they decided on Baguio.

Took the last flight out to Manila.

We then went to see the Philippine Military Academy. Just so we get to see it I guess especially for the first timers (haha).

We had hot chocolate in the afternoon at Choco-Late de Batirol at Camp John Hay. Temperature went as low as 17C. Must try the traditional blend Chocolate de batirol, bibingka and turon de langka.

We also went strolling at Burnham park and munched on a lot of street food. It’s Panagbenga festival the whole month of February so the park was full of floral displays.

We also had our picture taken with Doglas, the largest St. Bernard in Baguio (so they claim).

Went to the spa and had our Valentine’s dinner after at Mario’s. Food is really good. Going to the spa was interesting too (haha).

Day 4

Went shopping and had dinner with my loves at Clawdaddy before flying home to Bacolod the next day.

I may not be lucky in the romance department but I am very much fortunate with family and friends. I did not receive flowers or chocolates or whatever on Valentine’s day and it’s okay. This is enough, they are enough.

Until the next February adventure!

Additional bonus: Talked with my kids (via Viber) and they showed me their grades. I was one happy Momma. This has been the best Valentine’s treat I’ve had in years. Thank you God!

The Big 3-0

I’ve lived three decades and survived!

No, it wasn’t a lavish celebration, considering the fact that I don’t really celebrate my birthday.

But I thank God for giving me the wonderful gift of loving Family and really great Friends. All these unplanned events made me feel extra special.

Day 1:

IMG_7580.JPG

Bananas from Dane, lunch date with my sister, pizza party from the office and dinner with the family, what a pleasant surprise.

Day 2:

IMG_7856.JPG

Mahjong party with these beauties. My raccoon eyes were worth it! (lol)

Day 3:

IMG_7855.JPG

Fancy dinner with this bunch. It was an interesting night indeed! (aka ang ita)

These people, these moments…I don’t need much, they are enough.

…and that concludes my big 3-0. Thank you so much for cheering me up, for always remembering me and staying by me through whatever. We might not always agree on things but I am confident that you truly care. I love you all so much! Cheers!

Yummy in my Tummy!

Somewhere in Cagayan…

Chef April creates a menu for a restaurant and ktv that will be opening in July. I’m not sure if I’m allowed to disclose the name but to be safe, it’s gonna be one helluva place! As its tag goes, “Feel the party soon…”

Last month, she also created the menu for Tree House, Budgetel’s restaurant. Now I’m sure travelers staying here would be able to avail of great food at an affordable price!

As our friend John said, next chapter of this project: singing!

Til next time!

A Birthday Party

IMG_2473

The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate. – Oprah Winfrey

Sometimes it takes little things, random events to make us realize how privileged we are.

March 13, 2013 – We celebrated Manang Josephine’s 40th birthday. Josephine is one of our housekeeping staff here the Province’s hostel. She is also a beneficiary of DSWD’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.

So you see, celebrating birthdays for people like Josephine would be a luxury. And at forty, she finally had the chance. It was very heartwarming to see so much joy, so much thankfulness. Just this small celebration meaning so much to a certain person.

We celebrated together with the rest of the staff of the hostel. And the food was delish!

Indeed a happy birthday for Josephine.
