35th | August Encore

September 4, 2019

I feel like this has become an annual August thing and I love it!

Finally some quiet time with my best friends. Well, not so quiet.

Photo set | Punta Bulata, Danjugan

Just the four of us. Road trip!

Punta Bulata

Arrived at Punta Bulata and felt like we owned the place. No one here and yay long weekend!

Got upgraded to a cabana, had lunch and lazed by the beach.

Happy hour by the pool..

..and watched this glorious sunset. The transition from the sky with the sun setting and the sky with the sun fully set is just too beautiful for words.

Danjugan Island

Day trip to Danjugan on our 2nd day and since it’s habagat season, the waves were seriously crazy. I was just waiting for our boat to be wiped out.

But we made it!

Ramram, our guide briefed us about the island. It’s a 43 hectare island and marine sanctuary that is made up of 90% limestone forests. It was once a threatened and over-fished area but with the efforts of The Philippine Reef and Rainforest Conservation Foundation, Inc., the island has been restored to maybe it’s purest form, providing asylum to many wildlife species.

Me and Jobelle trekked while Miel and Pam took the boat to Moray Lagoon.

Into the bat cave

And we went snorkeling! Saw some sea snakes, moray eels, giant clams and lots of different fish and corals.

We had a slight scare when it was time to go back when our guide told us that the winds were really strong and just to wait for advise from the boat operator if we could actually dock at the resort or divert to somewhere else. I thought we’ll be stranded. Thank God the waters calmed.

I’ve been best friends with these crackheads for almost 3 decades now. They’ve seen the best and the ugly and the great and the nasty parts of me. They have suppressed strangling me countless of times because of my stubbornness and my twisted way of thinking because we are all weird somehow, but I know despite, they will always have my back. They hear my silence, they see my shadows, and they never judge.

That’s a 10 year old Cabernet Sauvignon magnum that we downed in just a few hours

We may not always see each other or talk to each other, but we’ll always have August. (CHAROT!) Virtual hugs!

No dull times with my soul sisters, always.

Oh Hello Sydney | 2018

September 26, 2018

Annual chaos with my forever dates — part 2.

Was supposed to be a week-long vacay in Sydney but this momma had well, responsibilities so I caught a later flight in the week and actually just stayed for 4 days. Too short!

And the hell I had to go through before getting on that SYD flight. It was the same day that typhoon Ompong made it’s landfall in the PI. First time I had really bad anxiety. My 2pm flight to Manila got cancelled and they moved me to a 7pm flight. And to make matters worse, my Syd flight was at 11pm. I felt like throwing up.

Fortunately, I got on the 6pm flight and there was no delay. I was praying nonstop for good weather and the heavens heard me. The rain stopped and the skies cleared. This is it!

Arrived Manila early, paid my travel tax and lined up for bag drop.

Yep, I had to endure this line just to drop my luggage. I already checked in online. Perks of flying budget airlines.

Good thing immigration was not packed and arrived at the boarding gate just in time.

Wait for meeeee!!!

It was an 8-hour long flight but I had a good seat and slept the entire time.

Arrived Sydney for Maryrose’s birthday!! Took the airport link to Merrylands to meet the rest of us for her lunch celeb. Got a train map, bought my Opal card and prayed that I don’t get lost (since I did not have wifi and travelling alone).

Finally complete. Well, almost. Happy birthday Maryrose!

Caught up with some high-school friends in Mascot for dinner afterwards.

Where we went:

Apart from Kmart, Woolworths, Westfield, Target, Costco and Metro (which we just coincidentally end our everyday with lol), we actually went to a couple of places around Sydney.😂😂

Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge

Mandatory. Strolled along the harbour so to get that Sydney feel. Another case of expectation vs. reality. It was packed, maybe because it was Sunday and maybe because it was the same day of the Sydney Marathon.

Blue Mountains

Three sisters turned to stone.

Wild Life Sydney Zoo

I realized I don’t like Koalas and Tasmanian Devils are so cuuuuute!

Sea Life Sydney Aquarium

Penguin ride!

Darling Harbour

Coffee break and this view!

Town Hall and Queen Victoria Building

Felt like I was warped into a different place, something like out of the books I read. Totally mesmerized by the architecture of these more than a century-old buildings.

Bondi Beach

Came a little too overdressed for the beach. It was cold out when we left Guildford.

Time moved too fast for me and suddenly, it was time to go home. Will definitely be back. The always running after the bus and missing the train paid off, will know our way around the next time. 😂

No dull moments here. Hopefully next time we’d be complete.
