Hello August!

So what went down last week.

Bukid kick off

Went up to Michelle’s farm and stayed for the day. Chilled, hiked for a bit and had some incidental digital detox because there was no signal there (haha).

This and Risa’s cansi FTW!

What’s awesome with the farm’s area is that it includes a 20 minute hike to this hidden treasure.

And nice that the fam and some friends put up these signs along the way.

This is part of the Lunao sulfur river. Entry point is on private property and the owners decided to not keep it open to public to preserve this precious gem. It used to be open and shared to everyone but sadly lots of irresponsible tourists would leave their trash behind.

Portiko Trivia Night

First time to go and it was so much fun! Good brain exercise.

Team R-18! We’ve to stock up knowledge for next Wednesday.

Manila bound

Originally my flight out was 9am but Cebu Pacific moved it to 1pm.

Flight was 3 hours delayed and I was stuck in Manila traffic for 4 freakin hours. Hell.

Had late dinner at Gringos with Jobelle, mojitos and lights off by 12 midnight.

Happy birthday Surf trip

Road trip to Zambales to catch us some waves. First time to try surfing. Left Makati round 4:30am, arrived Crystal Beach 9ish, I think. Way to north was so picturesque and I made super cool new friends.

Good morning 32!

Such an awesome day to go to the beach, weather was great!

Who’s under your table?

They make surfing look so easy but it’s really exhausting! So got out of the water, bought me some beer and chilled on the beach. Perrrfect.

Sunset sesh.

Check out Crystal Beach in Zambales. The place is really nice, the instructors are so friendly and accommodating and the resort’s rates are affordable too.

Got back to Taguig around almost 10pm and had late dinner at Burgers and Brewskies (always) with this bunch. I just can’t miss their burgers, sorry.

Home bound

Brunch at Locavore. The food is soooo good!

And off to go find some Pokemons (lol). This craze.

Grabbed coffee with these crazies before my flight. Sooooo bitin! I wish I could extend another week haha!

Amazingly traffic wasn’t bad, my flight was only delayed 30 minutes. Super awesome birthday week!

I feel the love! This from my friends and colleagues when I got back to work.

BKK for the Weekend

Short vacation before Christmas season. Mix of business and leisure 😜

Was with my sister, her husband and a couple of friends. Checked in at a hotel in Pratunam area. What was good about where we stayed was it was right beside the Pratunam market. We arrived late so we just hit a Thai food place near us for some Pad Thai before hitting the sack.

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market.

Just for the experience of it, it’s around an hour away from Bangkok. The place is fairly huge. Almost everything is sold here from coconut drinks to beer to paintings to souvenir items to fruits to street food and pictures with lemurs and pythons.

We paid 1000 baht for the tour with the motor boat that also included a visit to a coconut sugar farm and a Buddhist shrine. Tour ran for almost 2 hours total.

Chatuchak Weekend Market

Where they say everything is sold really cheap. Well some, but not all.

  The crowd.

We didn’t finish roaming the whole of Chatuchak Market because the place is so big we didn’t really know where to start and the weather is so humid, it was so hot and draining. Market is open from 6:00am to 6:00pm weekends but on Sundays, some stores extend until 8-9pm since it is the last day.

Chilled at Viva 8 for a bit. Our feet were dying from walking nonstop. Some Paella and Thai beer here.

Took the tuktuk back to the hotel. Had to experience this one.

Asiatique the Riverfront

The place is really nice with over a hundred stores, food shops and a view. It’s open from 2:00pm to 12:00 midnight. I found items sold here cheaper than the ones in Chatuchak.

Pratunam Market

If you’re into business, you go here. Wholesale is way cheaper compared to the ones sold in Chatuchak and Asiatique. Always ask for discount.

Noodle + Khamoo Restaurant

This was right beside our hotel and every time we go out we would notice the long queue of customers for this restaurant so we got curious.

The very long queue. Waited for almost an hour before we were seated. Good thing it was air-conditioned inside.

Almost there! 😝

Worth the wait! Must try wanton mee and pork rice. Store is open from 9:00am-4:00pm.

The Grand Palace

Have to go to Disneyland in a foreign place if they have one. Swear, it felt like going to Disneyland.

Reality versus what you see in pictures. It’s overly crowded, people are just swarming and it was really hot. I suggest when you go to visit, do it in the morning. Watch out for scammers. When you get into the Palace go straight inside, don’t talk to people outside offering to be your tour guides or telling you to buy discounted tickets from them. There’s a place where to buy your tickets. Entrance is 500 baht which includes the central court of the Grand Palace, Temple of the Emerald Buddha and Vimanmek Mansion. The place is open everyday from 8:30am-3:30pm. Also keep in mind to observe proper dress code.

The place is beautiful, majestic. Intricate details, amazing architectural structures and the walls are painted with so much history.

Street Food

Never ending street food. Tastes good nevertheless.

Missed the Ping Pong show. Was supposed to watch one but reading reviews about it made us think to go maybe the next time around.

Short but great vacay.

Happy Hearts | 2015

So every February, me and my friends agree to go to some random place together, either just here or out of the country. Haven’t joined them since forever but was fortunate enough to tag along this year.

This year they decided on Baguio.

Took the last flight out to Manila.

Day 1

Caught up on some zzzs and had lunch at Cafe by the Ruins. They serve organic food and beverages. No junk here.

We then went to see the Philippine Military Academy. Just so we get to see it I guess especially for the first timers (haha).

We had hot chocolate in the afternoon at Choco-Late de Batirol at Camp John Hay. Temperature went as low as 17C. Must try the traditional blend Chocolate de batirol, bibingka and turon de langka.

Day 2

Good morning! It’s Valentine’s day! ❤️

Started the day lining up at Good Shepherd. Must try their ube jam, strawberry jelly and chocolate crinkles.

Had our lunch at Pizza Volante and went to the market after to buy pashmina shawls and blankets.

We also went strolling at Burnham park and munched on a lot of street food. It’s Panagbenga festival the whole month of February so the park was full of floral displays.

We also had our picture taken with Doglas, the largest St. Bernard in Baguio (so they claim).

Went to the spa and had our Valentine’s dinner after at Mario’s. Food is really good. Going to the spa was interesting too (haha).

They also had this treat for the ladies.

And to sum it all up, s’mores by the fireplace.

Last stop…

Time to get lucky!

Day 4

Went shopping and had dinner with my loves at Clawdaddy before flying home to Bacolod the next day.

I may not be lucky in the romance department but I am very much fortunate with family and friends. I did not receive flowers or chocolates or whatever on Valentine’s day and it’s okay. This is enough, they are enough.

Until the next February adventure!

Additional bonus: Talked with my kids (via Viber) and they showed me their grades. I was one happy Momma. This has been the best Valentine’s treat I’ve had in years. Thank you God!
